Once upon a time a little writer was born Jeffrey Alan Maurer in Hollywood. His daddy was Norman Maurer, creator of the world's first 3-D comic book, and his mommy was Joan Howard Maurer, daughter of Moe Howard of The Three Stooges. He was off to an auspicious beginning even before he took his first breath.
But he wasn't a writer when he popped out of the womb. He had many creative adventures to take first. For instance, at age 11, Jeffrey began his entertainment career as a child actor in motion pictures, including two Three Stooges films produced and directed by his father.
At age 19, Jeffrey tried his hand at writing, penning a screenplay for what was to be the final film of The Three Stooges. But the production was canceled when the replacement for ailing stooge, Larry Fine, demanded a huge limousine to drive around his huge ego!
While studying for his Bachelor of Arts Degree from UCLA, with a major in Motion Pictures & Television, Jeffrey inked comic books for Western Publishing Company, including such classics as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Coyote & Roadrunner, Daffy Duck, Woody Woodpecker, etc.
Following comic books, Jeffrey created several pieces of fine art, including various American Flags made of crisp U.S. one-dollar bills behind transparent stars and stripes. One of Jeffrey's flags is hanging in the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library.
Tired of people misspelling and mispronouncing Maurer, and because his fiancée was going to change her maiden name, Jeffrey decided to change his last name as well. So, after marrying Sonya "Sunny" Kroch at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, they became Mr. & Mrs. Jeffrey Scott.
If you're a sucker for mushy love stories you'll appreciate the fact that Jeffrey met Sonya in the 5th grade and it was love at first sight...in both directions!
Over the course of his writing career, Jeffrey has written over 700 animated television scripts for such series as: Super Friends, Pac-Man (Hanna-Barbera Productions); Jim Henson's Muppet Babies, Spider-Man, Dungeons & Dragons (Marvel Productions); Plastic-Man, Thundarr the Barbarian, Mega Man (Ruby-Spears Productions); The Littles, Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling, Wacky World of Tex Avery, Sonic the Hedgehog, Dino-Squad (DIC Entertainment), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Zorro, James Bond, Jr. (Fred Wolf Films); Duck Tales, Tale Spin, Winnie The Pooh (Disney); Dragon Tales (Columbia-TriStar/Children's Television Workshop); and Little Krishna, Shaktimaan (Reliance Animation).
Jeffrey has also worked as a freelance and staff writer in live-action television, including scripts for The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo (Universal), Mr. Merlin (Columbia), Wake, Rattle & Roll (Hanna-Barbera), and The Powers of Matthew Starr (Paramount).
In addition to television, Jeffrey has written several live-action and animated feature screenplays for such companies as Paramount, Columbia, Will Vinton Studios and FUNimation. He also wrote the first 3-D (stereoscopic) animated feature, Starchaser: The Legend of Orin.
Following his family's knuckleheaded tradition, Jeffrey managed the worldwide rights to The Three Stooges from 1988 through 1994, including the development of motion pictures, television and licensing. He executive-produced, wrote and starred in The Three Stooges Live-Stage Show at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.
